Meet The Docs

Ronald Ray DDS

Dr. Ron Ray is a native of Northern Virginia. He received his B.S. in Biology from George Mason University in 1987 and graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1991. After graduation, he spent 3 years in the U.S. Army, the first year of which was in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry training program. After returning home, he worked 2 years in Countryside before opening his Ashburn office in early 1997. Due to the support of the current patient base, he was able to expand into the Leesburg area in the Fall of 2001.

Dr. Ray understands the importance of staying current with the latest advances in Dentistry and has studied both locally and abroad to maintain and improve his skills and knowledge of Dentistry. As important as knowing the techniques, is knowing the patient. Dr. Ray and all the doctors believe the patient needs information before a treatment decision can be reached. Recommendations are made by the doctors; but, decisions are made by the patients.

Dr. Ray and Rebecca welcomed their first child, T.J. in May 2010. They enjoy a wide variety of activities from outdoor events to a good movie at home.

Patricia Navar DDS

Dr. Patti Navar moved to Virginia from the Lone Star state of Texas in 1997. Her undergraduate studies were conducted at the University of Texas at El Paso where she was a Biology major and Psychology minor. She attended Dental School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she was a Dean’s List graduate. She has been in private practice in Northern Virginia since moving from Texas and is currently an adjunct faculty member at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in Richmond. Her Dental skills allow her to treat patients of all ages but she particularly enjoys children and fabricating removable dentures. These skills are particularly beneficial at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic in Falls Church where she gives back to the community as a volunteer Dentist.

Dr. Navar is an outdoor enthusiast, a budding tennis player and an avid violinist. Since she is bilingual, the next time you see her, offer a hearty bienvienido.

Ponchione DDS

Richard J. Lee
DMD, MS, MPH, CAGS

Prior to attending Dental School, Dr. Lee received a Masters of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the George Washington University. For about two years, he worked as a research scientist at the National Institutes of Health, NCI (National Cancer Institute) in which his research was focused on the cure for breast cancer.

During his years as a researcher, he also picked up a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. From 1996 to 1999, he worked on projects at the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). His projects involved developing policy on cancer detection and awareness.

Although Dr. Lee enjoyed his work, he felt that his job left him with little interaction with people. Since his father was a reputable physician in the area (Annandale Family Practice), Dr. Lee was able to observe the wonderful patient doctor bond his Dad had with his patients. Dr. Lee felt that since he also enjoys working with his hands, dentistry would be the perfect choice for his career.

In 1999 Dr. Lee was accepted to the prestigous University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He graduated in 2003 and placed in the top 10% of his class.

After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine he worked as a cosmetic dentist in the "Riviera of America" (Miami Beach, Florida). His practice was focused on creating beautiful smiles. He did aesthetic procedures such as laser teeth whitening, full anterior veneers, and full mouth recontructions. Dr. Lee practiced for few years in Miami before he returned back to school to start his Orthodontic residency. He chose Orthodontics as his Dental Specialty because it follows his passion in developing beautiful smiles; however, now he creates smiles naturally.

He is currently providing top-of-the-line orthodontic care to areas of Northern Virginia and Maryland. He is active in the community in which he lives and works, often lecturing to local middle and high schools about the importance of orthodontic treatment. He emphasizes the need to see your local orthodontist at least by the age of seven.

Dr. Lee grew up in the Northern Virginia area and attended Cooper Junior High and then Langley High School prior to going to Syracuse for college. He has found that the Washington D.C. metropolitan area has many things to offer as far as culture and fine dining. He enjoys going to the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap to watch various shows and concerts. Dr. Lee plans to stay in the Northern Virginia area for many years to come.
